Media
portrayals of Arabs, Arab Americans, and Muslims have shaped the way many
people view the Arab community in everyday life. After the events of September
11th, the Arab community became subject to discrimination and hate
from many angles. Recently, efforts have been made to grow past this time of
prejudice. The media has played an important role in reshaping the views held
of Arabs and Arab Americans. I will investigate different viewpoints on the
topic of Arab media portrayals in order to learn about the steps being taken to
move away from the negative schemas that had been so widely spread.
